Air Force Spouse Reimbursement Program

The U.S. Air Force recently announced the spouse re-licensure reimbursement program. The program provides financial relief up to $500 to “airmen whose spouses must obtain state occupational re-licensure or re-certification during a permanent change of station or assignment across state lines.” Specifically, the new program will allow for reimbursement of re-licensing fees including exams, certifications and registration, and will cover occupations such as nursing, teaching, real estate and cosmetology.

Qualifying re-licensing costs must be incurred and paid after and within 24 months of the date the member’s permanent change of station or assignment orders are authenticated. In addition, the program provides for the Air Force to reimburse qualifying re-licensure or re-certification fees incurred during a permanent change of station or assignment authenticated on or after Dec. 12, 2017.
